A late race caution would bunch the field resulting in Kenny Wallace restarting behind him. Despite having the talented veteran behind him, Jake would maintain the lead as he claimed the win to earn the pole for the feature event. In the feature, Jake would get the raw end of the deal as he was accused of jumping the initial start, and the penalty was to go to the back of the pack. June 6th, 2011 - It was another busy weekend for Jake and Jake Griffin Racing as they took part in three separate race nights throughout the Midwest. On Friday night the weekend got underway at Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri) as Griffin recorded a 3rd place finish in the ULMA Late Model feature, while a flat tire in the UMP Open Wheel Modified feature relegated him to a 16th place finish. On Saturday night, the action shifted to the recently re-opened, Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Missouri) as Griffin once again pulled double duty. In ULMA Late Model action, the night started well as Jake won his heat race to earn the second starting spot for the main event. He would race his way to the lead on lap 8, and looked to be on his way to the feature win before hitting a hole on the tenth circuit, which broke the j-bar and brought his night to a disappointing end. In UMP Open Wheel Modified action, he would register a 12th place finish at the checkered flag. Sunday night would see the team's scheduled event at Quincy Raceway nixed by Mother Nature, and as a result the team made the trip to 24 Speedway (Moberly, Missouri) for a UMP Open Wheel Modified event on the 1/2 mile oval. After finishing 5th in his heat race, Jake had charged to the 4th position early in the feature, when a mechanical gremlin struck again as the lower left rear bar broke dropping him to a 12th place finish. May 30th, 2011 - The team has a busy Memorial Day weekend scheduled, but Mother Nature had other ideas as Friday and Saturday's programs at Callaway Raceway and Scotland County Speedway fell victim to rain. The team would finally get to enter an event on Monday night at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) as Jake took part in both the IMCA Late Model division and and the UMP Modified division. The team was also in action in the UMP Open Wheel Modified division. Jake would start 16th in the feature and raced his way up to the seventh position by the race's midway point before receiving hard contact from behind, which broke the j-bar. He would battle an obviously ill-handling car from that point forward to score a 10th place finish at the checkered flag. May 15th, 2011 - As has been the theme for 2011 thus far, Mother Nature claimed all of the scheduled, weekend events as rain and cold weather forced the events to be canceled. As a result, Jake did not race anywhere. May 8th, 2011 - Sunday night found Jake back home at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) for another Open Wheel Modified event as twenty-two entries signed in for action. In heat race action Jake would battle to a third place finish, which earned him a top ten starting spot for the main event. In the feature he would race his way to a ninth place finish. May 7th, 2011 - On Saturday Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri) was on the menu with another night of double duty for Jake. May 6th, 2011 - Jake returned to the driver's seat on Friday night at Callaway Raceways (Fulton, Missouri) as he pulled double duty in the ULMA Late Model division and the UMP Modified division. In the main event he would finish in the fifth position in the fifteen car field behind race winner, Brandon Imhoff, Ezekiel Langley, Bob Test, and Brett Wood. In the UMP Modified division Jake wouldn't have as good luck. With 27 entries on hand, he would fail to transfer to the feature event via heat race action, and in the b-main he scored a fifth place finish, which left him one spot short of transferring to the featuring, bringing his night to an early end. Full results are available at www.CallawayRaceways.com. May 3rd, 2011 - The ULMA Late Model Series points were released today and Jake is leading the Rookie standings, and is currently fifth in the overall standings. It's worth noting that while Jake has only competed in three events so far that the four drivers in front of him have competed in four events, so he stands to move up as he competes in the upcoming weekend's events. Jake is also currently third in the latest addition of the UMP Missouri Region Modified standings. May 1st, 2011 - Mother Nature finally cut Jake and the team some slack as he was able to enter a pair of events over the course of the weekend. On Friday night at Callaway Raceways (Fulton, Missouri) Jake pulled double duty between the ULMA Late Model division and the Open Wheel Modified division. In the ULMA Late Model class it would be a great night for Jake as he motored his way to a second place finish. The Open Wheel Modified division would not be as kind though as he drew a large number at the pill draw, and as a result he started at the back of a heat race. He advanced to a sixth place finish, which left him starting 12th in a b-main. In the b-main, Griffin advanced to a sixth place finish, but with only the top two cars advancing to the feature his night ended early. Saturday evening found the team pitted in Memphis, Missouri at Scotland County Raceway for another night of double action. For the second straight night, he would power his ULMA Late Model to a second place finish in the feature event. In the Open Wheel Modified division he would bounce back from Friday night's bad luck to score a 10th place finish. Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) was rained out for Sunday night. The For Sale page has been updated with a fresh Dodge Cup Motor with P7 Heads. April 23rd, 2011 - With another weekend, where all of the scheduled events fell victim to rain, Jake was able to enter a Weekly Racing Series Event at Spring Creek Speedway (Macomb, Illinois). Twenty-two, UMP Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event, and after advancing to a third place finish in his heat race, Jake earned the fourth starting spot for the main event. On the first lap of the feature, he would bolt to the second spot as he began to reel in the leader. However, before the second lap could be completed the skies would open, and rain would force the balance of the event to be canceled. As a result, Jake was credited with a second place finish. April 17th, 2011 - The team planned to enter three events in this weekend at Callaway Raceway (Fulton, MO), Scotland County Raceway (Memphis, MO), and Quincy Raceway (Quincy, IL), but Mother Nature had other ideas as she nixed all three races. Despite seeing all of the planned events in nixed by rain, Jake Griffin Racing found an event to enter as they took the PRO Late Model and Open Wheel Modified to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois) on Friday night. A stellar field of 53 Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event, which was the largest field that Jake has ever had to face, and he held his own by qualifying 25th fastest in qualifications. He would go on to start seventh in his heat race and advanced to a 6th place finish. However, only the top three cars transferred to the feature, so he had to run a b-main. In the b-main, he started 9th and and was up to the second spot and was challenging the leader for the win, when he had a flat with two laps to go bringing an early end to his night. Despite not racing his way into the show like he had hoped, Jake was still encouraged by his performance and will look to take his momentum into the upcoming weekend's events. In the PRO Late Model division, Jake started tenth in the feature event after recording a fifth place finish in heat race action. In the main event, he advanced three spots to finish in seventh. April 10th, 2011 - Sunday night found Jake Griffin Racing back at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) for another Weekly Racing Series Event. Issues with the #08 in the heat race left Jake starting 18th on the grid for the main event in his Open Wheel Modified. Despite starting deep in the field, Jake began marching toward the front early in the event and was already up to the seventh spot during the race's middle stages, when the feature was halted due to time limit constraints. Before the feature was prematurely ended Griffin looked to be on his way to a top five finish, but had to settle for a still solid seventh place effort. April 9th, 2011 - On Saturday night the team was slated to race at Scotland County Raceway (Memphis, Missouri) in the facilities' first race of the year, but wet grounds from overnight rains forced the event to be canceled. April 8th, 2011 - Jake entered the season opener at Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri) on Friday night. The night would start off excellently as he powered his entry to the heat race win from the fourth starting spot. However, in the feature Jake's luck would take a turn for the worst as his motor expired, relegating him to a 13th place finish. Jake also took part in the ULMA Late Model division portion of the event, and he would power his #08 Bob Pierce Chassis to an 8th place finish in the final rundown. April 7th, 2011 - The upcoming weekend will be a busy one for Jake Griffin Motorsports. On Friday night the weekend will get underway as Jake will be in action at Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri). Full results are available at www.QuincyRaceways.com . March 23rd, 2011 - Jake planned to open his 2011 season this weekend with the UMP DIRTCar Roundup, but Mother Nature had other ideas as it has forced officials to postpone the event. A suitable reschedule date is currently being evaluated for the event. With the event not being held this weekend the team will practice at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois), weather permitting. January 24th, 2011 - As Jake Griffin busily prepares for the 2011 season he has set his sights on his racing plans and has welcomed two new sponsors on board.
